My name is Abbagail. I am a 34 year old woman, and a mother of 6 beautiful and resilient children (ages 1-17). I am also a recovering addict of two (2) years, as well as a survivor of domestic violence.
I have spent a year and a half at the Pearl House thus far. During which What is Your Voice, Inc. has helped me find balance in so many ways through the many connections and resources within the organization.
When I came into the Pear House, I was clean and sober, but still very broken and obviously missing pieces that I needed to grow. From being successful in staying sober, and in getting my children back, just becoming a whole person again — What is Your Voice, Inc. has brought those pieces to me and showed me how they work and how to use them.
Since entering the doors to this organization, I didn’t feel any judgement or criticism. From the very beginning I finally like and feel that maybe someone does care. I began to learn more and more about what was expected of me, and I even learned about what I wanted and needed for and from myself.
I was connected to a therapist who not only works with me but helps me with things I need to work on with her, but she also helps with me and my children, as well as group therapy. I’ve been in a few other programs that just didn’t have all the pieces. What is Your Voice is all in one place and I’m more than welcome and urged to take advantage of the pieces here.
Being a Woman who resides in the Pearl House I also am provided with everything a home may need: cleaning supplies, food, hygiene items, as among just some of the items.
I also receive an abundance of care, reassurance, and honesty — help — and best of all mentoring. I was given a beautiful gift this Christmas, through this remarkable organization: I was given assistance with gifts and I was able to have my oldest daughter whom I’ve been estranged from for 7 years, spend Christmas with me and I give credit to WIYV, for helping make that dream come true.
I have held a steady job for over a year, I was given the gift of a second chance at attending school. A second chance at being a mother and our relationships have been wonderful and evolving more and better each second.
I wake up every morning with an abundance of gratitude for every single person that has been my supporter, my cheerleader, my driving force, a sense of sanity. I am THANKFUL for all the miracles I have seen and all of the blessings that I have and continue to experience.
My life is a lot different than I saw it a year and a half ago before getting connected with What is Your Voice, Inc. This organization has been one of the most beneficial, helpful, blessings and changes I needed in my life. Because of this organization I feel good about my future.
